One of the main value propositions of IoT is the capability of remote firmware update. This feature enables a solution provider to fix faults in a very cost efficient way, role out new functionality, and keep customers happy. But the firmware update functionality is not trivial.

In recent years good new standards and requirements such as ISO 27000 and NIS2 have arrived. But how should security be implemented in real life? We don't only check if you are compliant, but we help you to implement a secure, scalable and cost efficient system. We use an approach where we make security understandable and concrete.
An example of this is how we find the right scope for your cloud system by asking the right questions:
- Does the system have to survive a hard disk failure?
- Does the system have to survive a server failure?
- Does the system have to survive a data center failure?
- Does the system have to survive an outage in a whole country?
Every yes answer to the above questions will add cost to your system. Therefore, it is important to find a level of security that is suitable for your solution. We have a similar list of questions for backup strategies, device key management systems, back-end process security (4-eyes principles that are cryptographically enforced), and which solutions are post quantum computer safe.
Usability
Usability and security often result in contradictory requirements. But this doesn't have to be the case. When you design an overall security concept, from the manufacturing process, to the device and the IoT Cloud, then it is possible to have a secure and user friendly overall system.
- A secure system without usability will not be accepted by your customers.
- An insecure system will give you bad publicity eventually and will therefore not be accepted by your customers.
